Vivo hit a real high note with its premium X series of smartphones, and it all started with the X70 Pro+ in 2021. Back then, I put it side by side with Xiaomi’s Mi 11 Ultra, and the X70 Pro+ stood out, thanks to its unique gimbal stabilization system (it also introduced its V1 imaging chip). This feature provided excellent stability while shooting videos in various lighting conditions. Following that success, the Vivo X80 Pro stepped in as a worthy successor, introducing cool features like a handheld astrophotography mode and excelling in low-light imaging with its four rear cameras.
However, the story took a turn with the Vivo X90 Pro. Unfortunately, it seemed like Vivo lost its focus here, missing out on some essential hardware and struggling to deliver on both camera and performance fronts.
Now, the new Vivo X100 Pro enters the scene, and it’s a bit different from its predecessors, while still keeping the elements that made the earlier models special. The distinctive curved edge display that Vivo loves is still there, but it all adds up to create a phone that looks and feels unique. The triple rear camera setup is retained, but with new hardware, including the powerful V3 imaging chip and the new MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC, making it quite intriguing. I’ve been using this phone for a couple of weeks, and here’s what I think about it.
Vivo X100 Pro Review: Price in India It might not be a direct competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra due to its different price range, but it certainly gives Google’s expensive AI-driven Pixel 8 Pro a run for its money. The Vivo X100 Pro is priced at Rs. 89,999 for the sole 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant. In the box, Vivo provides a charger, a Type-C charging cable, and a well-made, durable silicon case.
Google Pixel 8 Pro Review: New Pixel, Old Problems Vivo X100 Pro Review: Design Similar to the X90 Pro, the Vivo X100 Pro is available in a single finish called Asteroid Black, featuring a fluorite anti-glare glass back panel. Unlike some other brands in this price range, Vivo doesn’t offer multiple choices. Unfortunately, the orange vegan-leather finish launched in China is still unavailable for Indian customers.
The design of the Vivo X100 Pro has undergone refinements compared to the X90 Pro from last year. Although it’s still large and chunky, the massive cookie-shaped camera bump adds to its thickness. However, Vivo managed to make it appear slimmer with a more rounded design. It’s interesting to note that Vivo still embraces a 3D curved edge display, a choice that sets it apart from most manufacturers who have moved away from it.
